GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION

ATUR PEKIT                                     

1.                      The competition is open to all weavers in Sarawak, regardless of age.

Pekit Pua Kumbu dibuka ngagai semua bansa Dayak di Sarawak, enda ngira umur.

2.      Each weaver may submit only one piece for each category and weavings must be made within eight (8) months prior to the closing date of the competition, 29 August 2014.

Siko pemekit semina ulih nganjung kain tenun ke udah tembu siti aja bagi setiap kategori.  Kain tenun tu mesti ditenun dalam pengelama lebih kurang lapan (8) bulan belabuh ari pun taun 2014 ngagai haribulan tutup serta datai ba Komit Pua Kumbu kena 29 Ogos 2014.

3.         The competition is in 4 categories.

Pekit tu dibuka alam 4 iti kategori. 

4.         Category 1 (Kategori 1) (KAIN KEBAT)

            i.          All entries must be executed in NATURAL DYES only

                        Semua kain tenun mesti di tenun ngena ‘dye’ asal.

            ii.          The skirt shall be weaved in Cotton

                        Kain kebat tu deka ditenun ngena ‘cotton’

            iii.         Criteria for the Skirt (Kain Kebat)

                        a.        Size (saiz):      3’ X 5’

                        b.        Colour:          Natural dyes

                                    Kala:              Engkudu, engkerebai, sebangki, dll

                        c.         Design:          Traditional geometric patterns

                                    Ukir:                Ukir coral bungai aja

            iv.        Category 1 Prizes (Prais Kategori 1)

                        Prize is categorized under the followings:

                        Kategori prais deka diatur baka ke dibaru tu:-

 PRIZES:           1^st       :           Cash RM1500.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          2^nd      :           Cash RM1200.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          3^rd       :           Cash RM  900.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          4^th-5^th :           Cash RM  500.00 + Certificate

5.         Category 2 (Kategori 2) (PUA KUMBU ‘SHAWL’)

            i.          All entries must be executed in NATURAL DYES only.

                        Semua kain tenun mesti di tenun ngena ‘dye’ asal.

            ii.          The Pua kumbu Shawl shall be Cotton

                        Pua Kumbu shawl tu deka ditenun ngena ‘cotton’

            iii.         Criteria for the Pua Kumbu Shawl

                        a.        Size (saiz):     2’ X 6’

                        b.        Colour:          Natural dyes

                                    Kala:              Engkudu, engkerebai, sebangki, dll

                        c.         Design:          Traditional geometric patterns

                                    Ukir:                Ukir coral bungai aja

           

            iv.        Category 2 Prizes (Prais Kategori 2)

                        PRIZES:           1^st        :           Cash RM1200.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          2^nd       :           Cash RM  900.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          3^rd        :           Cash RM  700.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          4^th-5^th :           Cash RM  500.00

                                         

6.         Category 3 (Kategori 3) (ALAS MEJA KEBAT)

            i.          All entries must be executed in NATURAL DYES only.

                        Semua kain tenun mesti di tenun ngena ‘dye’ asal.

            ii.          The table runner / “Alas Meja Kebat” shall be Cotton

                        ‘Alas meja’ tu deka ditenun ngena ‘cotton’

            iii.         Criteria for the “Alas Meja Kebat”

                        a.        Size (saiz):     24” X 10”

                        b.        Colour:          Natural dyes

                                    Kala:              Engkudu, engkerebai, sebangki, dll

                        c.         Design:          Traditional geometric patterns

                                    Ukir:                Ukir coral bungai aja

           

            iv.        Category 3 Prizes (Prais Kategori 3)

                        PRIZES:           1^st        :           Cash RM  800.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          2^nd       :           Cash RM  600.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          3^rd        :           Cash RM  400.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          4^th-5^th :           Cash RM  200.00

7.         Category 4 (Kategori 4) (SELAMPAI SULAM)

            i.          All entries must be executed in COLORED THREADS only.

                        Semua selampai mesti di sulam ngena ubong berkala.

            ii.          The ‘Selampai” shall be weaved in Cotton threads only.

                        Selampai sulam tu deka ditenun ngena benang ‘cotton’

            iii.         Criteria for the Selampai sulam

                        a.        Size (saiz):     5” X 6’

                        b.        Colour:          Natural dyes

                                    Kala:              Engkudu, engkerebai, sebangki, dll

                        c.         Design:          Traditional geometric patterns

                                    Ukir:                Ukir coral bungai aja

           

            iv.        Category 4 Prizes (Prais Kategori 4)

                        PRIZES:           1^st        :           Cash RM  500.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          2^nd       :           Cash RM  300.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          3^rd        :           Cash RM  200.00 + Certificate + Trophy

                                          4^th-5^th :           Cash RM  100.00

8.      All entries are to be delivered together with the entry forms on or before 29 August 2014, and to the following secretariats-

       Semua kain tenun enggau selampai sulam ke udah tembu mesti datai ba Komiti Pekit Pua Kumbu sebedau 29 Ogos, 2014 ngagai penama ke dibaruh:-

9.      The competition will be judged on 6 – 7 September 2014.  The location and time will be known at a later date.  The top 20 will be shortlisted and be taken as materials for the exhibition.

          Ari ngakim deka diatur kena 6 – 7 September 2014.  Endor enggau jam deka dipadah dudi.  20 iti kain tenun ke dipilih deka dibantai maia ari exhibition.

           

10.      Upon completion of the competition, all non-winning entries shall be collected at the Rumah SIDS at Jalan Wong King Huo, Sibu from 11-12 October, 2014.  All unclaimed entries will automatically become the property of SIDS Sibu. 

         Pengudah pemutus pekit pua kumbu enggau selampai sulam, semua pemekit dipinta ngabi pulai tenun enggau selampai sida iya belabuh ari 11 – 12 Oktober, 2014 aba Rumah SIDS di Jalan Wong King Huo, Sibu.  Enti pua kumbu tauka selampai enda diambi alam tempoh ke udah dipadah, tenun/selampai sida deka nyadi reta SIDS Sibu.

11.    The organizers will not be liable to any damage or lost of properties before, during and after the competition.

         Komiti pekit pua kumbu nadai tanggung jawap ke semua perengka tauka reta ke bisi besangkut paut enggau kain tenun/selampai tu enti rosak tauka lenyau. 

12.    Each piece of category 1, 2 and 3 shall be weaved and labeled at the side with ‘TENUN SIDS, SIBU 2014’.  Category 4 shall be weaved and labeled at the end of the “selampai” with ‘SIDS SIBU 2014’.

         Kain tenun kategori 1, 2 enggau 3 deka ditenun enggau tulis penama “SIDS SIBU 2014” ba tisi kain tenun.  Kategori 4 deka disulam ba ujung selampai enggau tulis penama “SIDS SIBU 2014”.   

13.   Results of the competition will be announced during the SIDS Sibu 25^th Anniversary Celebration or a date to be fixed later.

          Pemutus pekit kain tenun enggau selampai tu deka di padah maia Malam Pengerami Ulang Taun ke 25 SIDS, Sibu tauka maya ke ditetapka ila.

           

14.    The top five winners from each category will be notified and be required to attend the dinner function or the specified prize giving function.   Attendance to the function will be arranged, however, accommodation and transportation for weavers to the event will be borne by themselves.

         Pemutus pekit kain tenun ari lumor 1 ngagai 5 ari setiap kategori di pinta datai ngulu pengerami makai malam tauka pengerami nyua ke prais.  Endor enggau jam deka dipadah.  Endor pemekit alam pengerami deka disediaka, tang endor diau enggau tambang dtai ke pengerami di tanggung diri empu.

           

15. The Entry forms are obtainable from SIDS website http:/www.sids-sibu.blogspot.com or obtainable from the secretariats.

16.       The judging criteria for all categories are in the following manners:-

            Cara ngakim pekit kain tenun tub aka ke di baruh:-

           

            1.         Design (Ukir)                                                                        40%

            2.         Colour (kala)                                                                       30%

            3.         Composition / Originality            (Asal)                                    15%

            4.         Workmanship  (Pengalus tenun/sulam)                     15%

17.       Decisions made by the Organizers and Judges shall be final.

            Pemutus ari komiti enggau hakim pekit kain tenun enda ulih dibantah.

           

18.      An exhibition of ‘Pua Kumbu’ will be organized and the date and time will be informed at a later date.

            Pameran kain tenun deka dipandang lalu maya deka ditetapka dudi ila.

           

19.     All the “Tenun” in Category 1, 2 and 3 that won prizes no. 1-3 shall become the property of SIDS Sibu.

            Tenun alam Kategori 1, 2 enggau 3 ke bulih lumor 1 – 3 deka diambi nyadi ke reta SIDS Sibu.

20.     All the ‘Selampai sulam” in Category 4 that won prizes no. 1 – 5 shall become the property of SIDS Sibu.

         Selampai Sulam alam Kategori 4 ke bulih lumor 1 - 5 deka diambi nyadi ke reta SIDS Sibu.
